Furna Hosts the Traditional "Conakri" Festival of Saint Helena, Featuring a Parade on Sunday

The town of Furna, on the island of Brava, will host this coming Sunday, August 9, another edition of the traditional Santa Helena “Conakri” Festival, a celebration that brings together the community, families, and visitors around one of the island’s most iconic cultural events.

The event is organized by the Papai Didi Foundation, in partnership with the family of Captain Didino Ramos, who invite everyone to participate in the festivities and the parade, reinforcing the spirit of unity and appreciation for local traditions.

According to the organizers, the event aims to honor the legacy of those who, over several generations, have worked to preserve and keep alive the tradition of Santa Helena “Conakri,” considered an important part of Brava’s cultural identity.

In addition to the parade, the celebration will be an opportunity for families and friends to come together, promoting the culture, history, and sense of belonging within the Brava community.
